Infant dies in roof collapse during storm in Nawabshah

NAWABSHAH: A storm caused the collapse of the roof of a makeshift house in Lalu Ujjan village located in the Deh 5 Nusrat area late on Sunday evening leaving an infant dead and a child injured.

The infant was identified as Nooran, daughter of Gul Baig Ujjan, whose young son, Abdul Ghani, was also injured as the debris of the roof fell on them.

Several electricity poles were pulled down by the storm in the city leaving many areas without power for hours. The bad weather also damaged the mango crop in Shaheed Benazirabad district.

40 goats burnt alive

Eight huts were gutted and 40 goats burnt alive in a fire that erupted in Mohabbat Marri village located in the Deh 6 Nusrat area near Bandhi town.

It was stated that flames of a stove in one of the huts caused the fire that engulfed seven other huts and destroyed the people’s belongings, valuables, goats, birds and wheat stocks.
