Lightning kills four in Gujar Khan, Kahuta

GUJAR KHAN: Lightning killed four persons, including a veterinary doctor and two plumbers, in Gujar Khan and Kahuta areas on Monday.

In the first incident, Mohammad Shakeel, 35, and his cousin Mohammad Hafeez, 26, both plumbers, were going to their workplace on a motorcycle when heavy showers forced them to take shelter under a tree near their village Hamesar, Kahuta.

According to ASI Mohammad Babar, at about 8:15am lightning hit the tree, killing the two cousins on the spot.

The ASI said Shakeel left behind two children and a widow while Hafeez was unmarried.

In a similar incident, Rashid Mahmood was hit by lightning in village Krumb Ilyas at about 9:30am.

Veterinary doctor Mohammad Arshad, 50, was also killed by lightning in Jatli area the same day.

Mr Arshad was standing in the courtyard of his house when the lightning struck him.
