Forests again on fire

TOBA TEK SINGH: Within weeks, a second fire erupted at block 1 of government’s forests late on Monday, 1.5 kilometres from Shorkot Cantonment.

Farmers of nearby villages said the fire probably started when a honey contractor’s men burnt sticks to keep away bees.

Some people said the wind storm caused the fire. Farmers said the fire reduced timber trees to ashes.

Forest Sub-Divisional Officer Fayaz Husain Baloch claimed there was no damage as fire was extinguished in rain.

CASE: Kamalia Sadar police on Tuesday registered a case against a man and his accomplices for killing his daughter.

According to a police report, Goshia Rani, 23, was forced to marry a man against her will in Chak 710-GB and she eloped with Abdul Ghaffar.

A village jury arranged her return to her parents. Her parents married her to another person but she continued her affair with Ghaffar.

Police said her father, Farid, and uncle Nawaz and their three relatives tortured and killed her.
