Mengal hints at quitting assembly

GWADAR: Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) president Sardar Akhtar Mengal has said the party will go to the masses to seek their consent whether to stay in assemblies or resign because of “a status quo in the Balochistan situation”.

Addressing public meetings in Gwadar and Ormara on Saturday, Mr Mengal said the government had failed to resolve the issues of enforced disappearances of political activists and dumping of bodies.

“There has been no change in the Balochistan situation during the past nine months,” he said.

He said the BNP-M had rejected the Protection of Pakistan Ordinance and would oppose handing over of Gwadar to army in the name of security.

“Rulers have not provided relief to people,” he said and lashed out at the provincial government for not taking BNP-M MPAs into confidence while taking decisions and making agreements about Gwadar.
