Six killed, 47 injured in a wave of road accidents across country
PESHAWAR/HUB/TOBA TEK SINGH: At least six people were killed and 47 others were injured on Sunday in separate incidents of road accidents throughout the country, DawnNews reported.
At least five people were killed when a vehicle plunged into a ravine near Lower Dir’s Bandi Pull in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Punjab
One person was killed and 14 others were injured when a passenger bus overturned due to over-speeding in Toba Tek Singh.
In another incident, at least eight people were injured when the driver lost control of a vehicle which capsized near Athara Hazari Chowk in Jhung district.
Police personnel and rescue teams immediately reached the site of the incident and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital.
Balochistan
At least twenty-five people were injured when a passenger bus overturned on the Coastal Highway in Hub district of Balochistan province.
According to Edhi sources, the passenger bus was travelling from Gawadar to Karachi when it lost control due to over-speeding.
Police personnel and rescue teams immediately reached the site of the incident. The injured were shifted to Karachi.
According to rescue sources, the victims included women and children.
Pakistan has one of the world’s worst records for fatal traffic accidents, blamed on poor roads, badly maintained vehicles and reckless driving.
In recent days, the country has witnessed a sharp rise in the number of such deadly accidents.
