Girls’ school damaged in Swabi blast
SWABI: Militants damaged the building of a government primary school for girls in Mian Dheri area here by blasting an explosive device early on Thursday.
The people said the explosive device was planted by the building. They said militants had targeted around 30 government and private educational institutions in the district over a period of time.
Meanwhile, police said on Thursday they had arrested a man over the killing of a child. The child was killed five days ago. A police official said during initial interrogation, Shahbaz Khan of Panjpir village had confessed to killing the child.
He said the suspect insisted he’d killed the child after a property dispute with his father, Mohammad Yazdani.
The district police also arrested on Thursday a suspected militant and seized explosive material. The district police officer told reporters here that suspected militant Farooq was arrested in Parmuli area.
