Wanted Lyari gang leader killed in police encounter

KARACHI: A wanted Lyari gang leader was killed late on Wednesday in an alleged police encounter, according to the Press and Information Department (PID).

Sohail alias Dadda belonged to the Uzair Baloch group and was believed to be a notorious criminal in Malir and adjoining areas.

After receiving a tip-off about the presence of the gangster, police surrounded the Lee Market area, during which Dadda opened fire on police personnel.

Dadda was killed in retaliatory fire by police.

The accused was a wanted criminal and several raids had been conducted earlier to catch him.

The Sindh government had placed a bounty of Rs500,000 on his head.

Dadda was allegedly involved in more than 100 cases of murder, extortion, kidnappings for ransom and robbery.


Rangers arrest five suspects in targeted operation


In a search operation conducted by Rangers personnel today five suspects were arrested from Karachi's Ram Swami area.

During the operation Rangers personnel arrested five suspects allegedly belonging to a political party, who were later shifted to an unknown location.

In a separate incident, Sher Shah police in an operation arrested a suspected drug dealer named Saeed Khan and recovered drugs from him.

Also, in another incident of firing a man was injured by unidentified gunmen near Qalandaria Chowk.

Karachi, the largest metropolitan city of Pakistan, is riddled with targeted killings, gang wars, kidnappings for ransom, extortion and terrorism.

The crackdown initiated by the law enforcing agencies continued in the metropolis led by police and Rangers personnel against criminals.
