Day of siblings at National Hardcourt Jr Tennis

ISLAMABAD: Two sets of brothers were among the eight players who qualified for the quarter-finals of the 1st ACPL National Junior Hard Court Tennis Championship at the Pakistan Sports Complex here on Friday.

Brothers Talha-bin-Asif and Hamza-bin-Asif as well as siblings Arham Atiq and Aman Atiq have qualified for the quarters. According to the schedule, Talha will face Aman while Hamza will face Ahram in quarters.

Meanwhile, four other players including top seed Syed Nofil Kaleem, Kashan-ul-Haq, Talha Zubair and Hasnain Man­zoor also advanced into the quarterfinals. In pre-quarterfinals, Kashan-ul-Haq made a major upset by defeating 3rd seeded Ilham Khan.

Boys’ U-18 :

Pre-quarterfinals: Syed Nofil Kaleem bt Syed Yawar Abbas 6-1,6-2; Kashan ul Haq bt Ilham Khan 7-6(4),6-7,6-4; Aman Atiq bt Malik Hamza 0-6,6-3,6-2; Talha Bin Asif bt Nazif

Ahmed 6-2,6-1; Arham Atiq bt Hasnain 6-0,6-2; Hamza Bin Asif bt Dawar Rehan 4-6,6-3,6-4; Talha Zubair bt Shaeer ul Hamad 6-0,6-0; Hasnain Manzoor bt Ibrar ul Haq 6-0,6-0.

Boys’ U-14:

Pre-quarterfinals: Ilham Khan bt Sameer Khan 6-2,6-1; Saqib Umer bt Humbal 6-4,6-4; Yousaf Khan bt Saad Abjad 6-2,6-4; Shoaib Khan bt Taqi Sohail (w/o); Sheheryar Khan bt Musa Ch. 6-0,6-1; Mir Shahzaib bt Fawad Gerjera (w/o); Huzaifa Abdul Rehman bt Taimoor khan 6-0,6-0; Hafiz Arbab Ali bt Ihtesham Abbasi 6-2,6-2.
