KARACHI/LAHORE: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Nabil Gabol said Saturday that the party would put up strong resistance if Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri was arrested, DawnNews reported.
Speaking to media representatives, Gabol said Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz’s (PML-N) authoritative style of leadership was damaging for the democratic system in the country.
He said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should withdraw the order for Qadri’s arrest.
The MQM leader said a commission, comprising Supreme Court judges, would be constituted to investigate the Model Town tragedy, adding that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif should also appear before it.
He also claimed that Law Minister Rana Sanaullah had been made a scapegoat over the Lahore incident.
Shahbaz sacked Rana to relinquish his own responsibilities, alleges Elahi
Pakistan Muslim League- Quaid (PML-Q) member Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said the judicial commission formed to investigate the Model Town tragedy would not be able to attain justice as long as Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif remained in power.
Speaking outside the Press Club in Lahore on Saturday, Elahi said Qadri would arrive in Pakistan on the morning of June 23, adding that if members of any political party, including the Pat and PML-Q, were stopped, then PM Nawaz and CM Shahbaz would be held responsible.
He alleged that Shahbaz had removed Law Minister Rana Sanaullah from his position to relinquish his own responsibilities.
He also claimed that the Punjab CM had instilled the habit of fake encounters in the police force.
Separately, he demanded that the administration should not accept illegal orders.
