Six of a family gunned down in Nowshera

NOWSHERA: A young man shot dead six members of his family, including his mother, two sisters and a brother, over a minor issue in Amangarh area in the jurisdiction of Azakhel police station on Wednesday.

A relative informed Dawn that Mohammad Ali, 20, shot dead his mother, two sisters, brother, nephew and aunt over family’s refusal to his marriage proposal.

Bodies of the victims were shifted to the district headquarters hospital for autopsy. They were identified as the suspect’s mother Nargis, 45, sisters Rabia Khan, 20, and Safia Khan, 15, brother Shahab, 26, nephew Mahad, 1, and aunt Ranra Begum, 75. The injured woman was identified as Sakeena, wife of Shahab.

The police recorded the statement of injured, Sakeena, who said that the family members were asleep when Mohammad Ali opened indiscriminate fire on them, killing her husband and minor son, two sisters, mother and aunt, on the spot.

DPO Rabnawaz Khan said that the police raided the locality soon after receiving information about the gory incident and arrested the accused and recovered a Kalashnikov from his possession.
