Boy killed, 16 injured in Loralai cross-fire

QUETTA: A 10-year-old boy was killed and 16 others injured in cross-fire on Tuesday in Loralai area when two groups clashed over the ownership of land.

Police said that members of rival parties took positions against each other since early morning in Killi Nasirabad, in the outskirts of Loralai town.

“The area reverberated with gunshots for over two hours resulting in the death of a passerby-boy and injuries to 16 other people,” police added.

A senior doctor Saleh Muhammad was among the injured. He was shifted to Quetta.

Personnel of the Frontier Corps (FC), Levies and police shifted the body and injured to district hospital Loralai. Heavy police and FC contingent were deployed in the area to avert further clash.

Police had registered a case against both groups but did not make any arrests.

Markets, shopping centres and bazaars were closed down in Loralai town after the clash.
