Playgrounds in Kohat to get artificial turf
KOHAT: MPA Amjid Khan Afridi announced installation of Astroturf at the main hockey and football grounds here on Thursday.
He also visited Tanda Dam and ordered the officials concerned to arrange water sports, huts in parks, mini zoo and play land for children on the pattern of Rawal Dam, Islamabad. He also directed for construction of a playground near Gandiali Dam to provide facilities to the people living there.
Mr Afridi, who is adviser to the chief minister on tourism, sports and youth affairs, visited these places along with commissioner, Kohat, Jamaluddin Shah, manager tourism Mohammad Ali and other officials. Earlier, he visited the phase-I in KDA to inspect the 50-kanal site for construction of museum and swings for children and asked the project director to submit a PC-I of the site. He asked the officers to complete homework for these projects as early as possible.
MAN SHOT DEAD: One person was killed and another sustained bullet injuries when two unknown armed men on a motorcycle opened fire on a pick-up van on Mari Bala road on Thursday.
The Ustarzai police said that one Wahib and Wali Mohammad were travelling in a pick-up when the incident occurred near Marai Bala. They said that Wahib died on the spot while Wali Mohammad suffered injuries. However, other passengers remained unhurt. The police registered the case and have started investigations.
Meanwhile, a man killed his brother in Naway Kalay area the other day. An Afghan refugee, Gharsai, told Cantonment police that he and his two sons, Aslam and Amjid, were coming to home after afternoon prayers when his other son Rohullah and friends Mirzali and Ikramullah opened fire on them. As a result, Aslam died on the spot while Amjid received bullet injuries. Police have arrested Ikramullah and Mirzali. The police have registered a murder case against the accused.
IDPS IN HANGU: Over 7,000 internally displaced persons from North Waziristan Agency have taken shelter in Hangu district.
Confirming this, the deputy commissioner office, Hangu, said that the disaster management agency had not erected tents for them so far. Similarly, the IDPs had not been paid Rs25,000 as travel charges and Rs40,000 for Ramazan.
The IDPs reaching Hangu and Thall tehsil had demanded tents, food expenses and financial aid from the government.
