Qadri promises workers’ share in mills’ profit

LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Dr Tahirul Qadri promises share for workers in the profit of the factories they work for.

The promise came at a labour convention which, a PAT press release claimed, was attended by representatives of 20 labour federations here on Monday.

Prominent among them were Shaukat Ali, Mian Saleem, Fazl-i-Wahid, Altaf Barohi and Sultan Ahmed Khan.

After the ‘revolution’ the PAT was working for, Mr Qadri said, the mill owners would be entitled to take home their profits only after giving a share to their workers.

He also announced institution of a 20-member labour advisory council.

Criticising the privatisation process the government was carrying out, he alleged the rulers were in fact doing all this to benefit their families and close relatives.
