Four gang war suspects arrested during Karachi operation
KARACHI: Rangers and police personnel on Tuesday arrested four suspects allegedly involved in the Lyari gang war from the Kalri and Baghdadi areas of Lyari in Karachi.
The suspects were arrested during a joint search operation carried out by Rangers and police personnel.
Two of the arrested suspects were found in injured condition.
According to City Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sheraz Nazir, the suspects were involved in sectarian and targeted killings as well.
They were shifted to a nearby police station for further investigation.
Meanwhile, paramilitary forces claim to have confiscated a stolen truck loaded with huge cache of arms and ammunition belonging to the suspects.
Earlier on July 10, three gang war suspects were killed during separate police and Rangers encounters in the Napier and Lyari areas of Karachi.
Karachi, the largest metropolitan city of Pakistan, is riddled with targeted killings, gang wars, kidnappings for ransom, extortion and terrorism.
Targeted operations led by Rangers’ forces with the support of police are ongoing in the city under a directive issued by the federal government against criminals already identified by federal, military and civilian agencies.
