No agency involved in dumping of bodies: Gen Janjua
QUETTA: The Commander, Southern Command, Lt Gen Nasir Khan Janjua, said on Sunday that no security agency was involved in killing people and dumping their bodies in Balochistan since January this year.
In reply to questions at an Iftar dinner he had hosted for senior journalists, Gen Janjua said he had written to the provincial government to investigate the matter. “The matter should be investigated, instead of blaming security forces for it.”
He disclosed that the Afghan intelligence agency was involved in killing and dumping of bodies in Quetta and other areas of Balochistan.
Afghans involved in Balochistan unrest, says minister
General Officer Commanding Maj Gen Aftab Khan, Maj Gen Majid Ehsan, Frontier Corps IG Maj Gen Ejaz Shahid, ISPR Director Tippu Karim and other senior army officers attended the dinner.
Gen Janjua said the Afghan agency had been killing its opponents, including the Taliban, and dumping their bodies in different areas of the province.
He, however, said security forces had been taking steps to foil the designs of Afghan forces, which wanted to create the law and order situation in the province.
He said people were also killing their opponents. “Even some people brought bodies from Punjab and dumped them in Balochistan.”
The general said that law and order had improved in the province, but more efforts were needed to normalising the situation completely.
“The army, political parties, civil society and media should play their role in uniting people and removing differences,” he said.
