Peshawar PTI gears up for march

PESHAWAR/NOWSEHRA: The workers of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf are gearing up for ‘Azadi March’ as on Tuesday the city saw four different car and motorbike rallies taken out by the Insaf Students Federation (ISF), party’s youth wing, provincial ministers and MPAs.

The first rally was addressed by ISF provincial president Sohail Afridi, central adviser Meena Khan Afridi and Peshawar University president Shafqat Muneer. It started from the university’s Pearl Lawn where ISF members had gathered in a large number, according to a press release.

The student activists held banners and chanted slogans of change. The rally after passing through the University Road and Saddar ended at Hashtnagri. On its route, common citizens also joined the rally.

The second rally was led by provincial minister Ziaullah Afridi and party’s provincial general secretary Khalid Masood, which started from Hashtnagri chowk. Carrying lamps, MNAs Sardar Soran Singh and Hamidul Haq and several other MPAs took part in the rally. The workers said that the lamps showed that they were peaceful workers. After passing through different areas, the rally ended at Peshawar Saddar. Thousands of party workers took part in the rally.

The third rally was led by MPA Shaukat Yousafzai and Town-I president Gul Badshah, which started from Haji Camp and after passing through Peshawar city ended at Peshawar Saddar.

Mr Yousafzai said on the occasion that the police crackdown on the party workers in Punjab showed that the ‘bogus government’ was shivering with fear.

The fourth rally was led by central secretary general of youth wing Qasim Ali Shah. The youths rally started from Qayyum Stadium, Peshawar, and ended at Hayatabad.

Meanwhile, Nowshera district has become the hub of activities of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf to mobilise people for its ‘Azadi March’ on the Independence Day.

The home district of Chief Minster Pervez Khattak has been decorated with colourful billboards and banners. Mr Khattak and provincial minister Jamsheduddin are holding public gatherings in villages to persuade people to join the march.

The CM held at least five public gatherings in Ziarat Kaka Sahib, Pir Payee, Aman Kot, Banda Mulhan, Mohib Banda and Ghari Momen.
