LANDI KOTAL/KHAR: A tribal elder was killed and 25 persons including women and children were injured in three different incidents in Khyber Agency on Wednesday.

Sources in Malagori area of Jamrud said that exchange of fire between two rival groups left tribal elder Malik Yousuf Shah dead and another person from the rival group injured.

They said that Yousuf Shah had a land dispute with his rival Gul Akbar and they fired at each other when they came face to face in Malagori on Wednesday.

In Akkakhel area of Bara subdivision, nine members of the family of a peace volunteer were injured when a mortar shell fell on a house.

Officials said that the incident took place at midnight when a mortar shell fell on the house of Sadiq Shah in Zawa area.

The explosion caused by the mortar shell injured nine members of Sadiq Shah’s family.

Head of peace body remains unhurt in Bajaur blast

The injured were identified as three-year-old Afsa, Mahajira, Shakirullah, Adnan, Fatima and two wives of Noor Khaliq and wife of Mian Gul Jan.

All the injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar where condition of Adnan, Shakirullah, Manhajira and Afsa was stated to be critical.

Meanwhile, 15 passengers were injured when a pick-up vehicle fell into a ravine in Kamarkhel area in Bara on Wednesday. The injured included four children and two women.

Three of the injured were referred to Peshawar while the rest were treated for their wounds in local private clinics.

In Bajaur Agency, a pro-government tribal elder and leader of Salarzai Peace Committee remained unhurt in a roadside blast in Golo Shah area on Wednesday.

Officials said that Malik Abdul Hakeem along with his driver and bodyguards was going from his home to Khar in his personal car when he was targeted with a remote-controlled bomb. The tribal elder and his companions remained unhurt in the blast but his vehicle was damaged partially, they added.

People of the area, members of peace committees and Bajaur Levies rushed to the spot soon after the incident and launched a search operation.

Malik Abdul Hakeem, 57, is younger brother of late Malik Fazl Karim, the founder of Salarzai Qaumi Lashkar, who along with 28 senior members of the lashkar was killed in a suicide attack on his a jirga on November 7, 2008.
