DADU, July 22: The right guide bank along the Dadu-Moro bridge has been partially damaged as the flow of the Indus River continued to put pressure on the bank of the bridge on Tuesday.

The water flow also destroyed 50 more feet of the J-spur.

The irrigation staff is trying to retain the original course of Indus between the second arm bund and the J-spur. Stones along 120 feet area, 50 feet in depth, between the bund and the spur were dumped on Tuesday.

The river water has inundated more kutcha belt in the Dadu district, including the area between Mounder to Jhallo along the Katcho Wah and the Katcho Lake near the Indus right bank.

The superintending engineer, Rohri circle, Ghulam Nabi Mughal, told this correspondent at the Dadu-Moro bridge on Tuesday that the flow of the Indus was damaging the right guide bank along the Dadu-Moro bridge at RD-3200 as the water was destroying the main part of the J-spur.

He said the Indus water had stopped eroding the western part of the affected J-spur. He said 70,000 cubic feet stones were dumped between the affected part of the J-spur and the second arm bund.

The executive engineer, Rohri division, Manzoor Ahmed Magsi, said if the change in the Indus River’s course was not checked at the J-spur main, the water would destroy the right guide bank which was an important and sensitive point.

He said the situation was under control and dumping of stones at the bank was continuing.

NAIN GAJ: Hilly areas of the Dadu district received heavy rain on Monday night which continued till Tuesday morning.

The water level at the Nain Gaj Drain again rose to seven feet on Tuesday.

The water flow is putting pressure on RD-45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50 and 67 of flood protective embankments.

Dadu, Phulji, Khudabad, Johi, Bhan, Khairpur Nathan Shah and other parts of the district received the rain as a result power supply remained suspended for hours.
