Two robbers arrested in Swabi

SWABI: The local police claimed to have arrested two robbers during a robbery attempt in Saleem Khan area here on Saturday.

Munsif Khan, SHO of the city police station, said that Niqab Khan and Johar Ali of Saleem Khan village, who were wanted to the police in different cases, were arrested during a robber attempt at the same village.

The police official said that the culprits, noticing presence of police in the area, attempted to escape. Police chased the culprits and forced them to surrender after a while, said the police official.

Meanwhile, Swabi deputy superintendent of police Fayyaz Khan said that police recovered explosives, Rs95,000, a Kalashnikov and several rounds from the possession of the arrested robbers.

Meanwhile, a wind and thunderstorm, which lashed the district on Saturday, caused suspension of electricity supply to several areas for hours.

The windstorm uprooted trees and badly damaged the standing maize crop.
