LARKANA: The Larkana Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education on Friday announced the results of the Higher Secondary School Certificate part-II science, commerce and humanities examinations 2014.

In science, girls outshined boys in the pre-medical group while boys outclassed girls in the pre-engineering group. The pass percentage in both the groups was 79.57 and 78.4, respectively.

Among the male candidates, Irfanullah of the Cadet College Larkana clinched the first position with 974 out of 1,100 marks; Abdul Wahab Shaikh of the Govt Degree College Larkana with 973 marks stood second and Asadullah Malik of the Public School, Shikarpur, with 971 marks secured the third position.

Among the female candidates, Ms Jaya Ramesh of the Govt Girls College, Shahdadkot, with 978 marks stood first while Kishwar Parveen Abro of the Govt Girls College, Larkana, with 975 marks and Ume Rubab Jokhyo of the same college with 973 marks secured the second and third positions, respectively.

Out of the 14,008 candidates of the pre-medical group, 806 passed the examination in the A-1 grade, 1,290 in A grade, 4,978 in B grade, 3,734 C grade, 328 in D grade and one candidate in E grade.

The results of 561 candidates were withheld.

Among the male candidates of the pre-engineering group, Mohsin Ali Shah of the SZABIST, Larkana, with 976 marks secured the first position while Pawan Kumar of the Govt Degree College, Shahdadkot, with 974 marks and Abdul Rehman Morio of the Strathmore School System with 971 marks grabbed the second and third positions, respectively.

Among the female candidates, Ms Kainat Serwar of the Govt Higher Secondary School, Khanpur, with 969 marks clinched the first position while Kanwal Aftab Sahito of the Govt Girls Degree College, Larkana, with 964 marks and Saima Unnar of the Govt Higher Secondary School, Banguldero, with 958 marks secured the second and third positions, respectively.

A total of 9,328 candidates appeared in the pre-engineering examination and 525 of them passed it in the A-1 grade, 743 in A grade, 2,884 in B grade, 2,692 in C grade, 469 in D grade and one candidate in E grade. The results of 564 candidates were withheld.

Commerce group

A total of 358 candidates appeared in the HSSC-II commerce group examination and only three of them could pass it in the A 1 grade. Another 12 candidates passed it in A grade, 64 in B grade, 153 in C grade and 63 candidates passed the exam in D grade.

The combined (male and female) position-holders are Ahmed Abbas Rajani of the Govt Arts and Commerce College, Larkana, with 915 marks (first position), Faizan Ali Junejo of the same college with 913 marks (second position) and Surakhsha Khatri of the Govt Shah Latif College, Shikarpur, with 875 marks (third position).

Humanities group

Not a single student from among the 4,146 candidates who took the HSSC-II humanities group examination could clinch the A-1 or A grade . a total of 827 candidates passed it in the B grade, 1,920 in the C grade, 494 in D grade and 10 candidates passed it in E grade.

The pass percentage stood at 78.43.The results of 362 candidates were withheld.

The top three positions in the male group went to Mumtaz Malik of the Govt Higher Secondary School, Kandhkot, with 763 marks (first), Tarique Hussain Abro of the Govt Higher Secondary School, Banguldero, with 761 marks (second) and Sher Jan Khakhrani of the Govt Degree College, Jacobabad, with 757 marks (third).

In the female group, Shama Rani Soomro of the Govt Degree College, Madeji, with 756 marks, Nasreen Chandio of the Govt Girls Higher Secondary School, Mehar, with 754 marks and Fazila Usto of the Govt Girls KG Higher Secondary School, Jacobabad, with 752 marks clinched the first, second and third positions, respectively.

SUKKUR: The Sukkur Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education on Friday announced the results of the Higher Secondary School Certificate part-I & II (class XI & XII) home economics group annual examination 2014.

All three top positions were clinched by students of the Govt Degree Girls College, Sukkur.

Sumera Gul with 897 marks clinched the first position while Ms Rubab with 876 marks and Ms Faiza with 870 marks secured the second and third positions, respectively.
