PTI leader shot dead by rivals

GUJRANWALA: PTI’s Ghakkhar Town President Chaudhry Ijaz Ahmad Cheema was gunned down allegedly by his rivals over an old enmity on Saturday.

Reports said Ijaz Cheema was sitting near a car showroom of his cousin along GT Road when attackers wearing helmets came there on a motorcycle and fired at him, killing him on the spot.

Station House Officer Adnan Ijaz reached the spot and shifted the body to THQ Hospital in Wazirabad for an autopsy. The SHO said the attackers would soon be arrested.

HUMAN AGENTS HELD: The FIA claimed on Saturday to have arrested at least 110 human agents, including six red-book accused, and 56 electricity and gas thieves in a special drive launched against them.

FIA Deputy Director Rana Khurram Saeed said over 300 human traffickers had been arrested during the last three months.

He said about 100 cases of electricity and gas thefts were also registered during the period.

COP ARRESTED: A constable and his accomplice were arrested in a robbery case by Ferozewala police on Saturday.

Reports said some residents of Muhammadi Park informed police that robbers were looting people at a picket. The robbers took to the heel when a raiding team reached the spot.

The police chased them and arrested two robbers, Majid and Sadaqat, after a brief encounter.

Accused Sadaqat was a constable who was posted at the security duty of the Nandipur power project.

Police recovered Rs200,000 cash, a motorcycle, two pistols and four mobile phones from them.
