New version of Hatf test-fired
RAWALPINDI: Pakistan successfully test-fired the short range, surface-to-surface Hatf IX (Nasr) missile on Friday.
The test was conducted with successive launch of four missiles from multi-tube launcher with salvo mode.
With a range of 60km and in-flight manoeuvring capability, Nasr is a quick-response system with shoot and scoot attributes. It contributes to the full spectrum deterrence against the prevailing threat spectrum.
The test was witnessed by Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Gen Rashad Mahmood, Director General of Strategic Plans Division Lt Gen Zubair Mahmood Hayat, Commander of Army Strategic Forces Command Lt Gen Obaid Ullah Khan, Chairman of NESCOM Mohammad Irfan Burney, senior officers from strategic forces and scientists and engineers of strategic organisations.
Addressing on the occasion, Gen Rashad Mahmood congratulated scientists and engineers on achieving yet another milestone towards Pakistan’s deterrence capability.
He appreciated professional attributes of all concerned which made possible the successful launch of the weapon system.
He expressed full confidence in the strategic command and control system and the armed forces’ capability to safeguard security of the motherland against any aggression.
The test launch was warmly appreciated by President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who congratulated the participating troops, scientists and engineers on their outstanding achievement.
