ABU DHABI: Australia on Sunday defeated Pakistan by one run in the third and final One Day International in Abdu Dhabi, completing their whitewash.

Pakistan were bowled out for 230 on the last delivery of the inning, just two runs short of the 232 target set by Australia.

Earlier, Australia made 231-9 in their 50 overs after winning the toss and batting first in the third and final day-night international against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi.

Steve Smith hit a fighting 105-ball 77 and David Warner scored 56 off 63 balls to lift Australia against a spirited Pakistan bowling attack at Sheikh Zayed Stadium.

Pakistan were without their captain Misbah-ul Haq, who ruled himself out from the match because of poor form.

Mercurial all-rounder Shahid Afridi led the side in Misbah's absence.

Paceman Sohail Tanvir finished with 3-40 while Afridi took 2-44.

Australia won the first match in Sharjah by 93 runs and the second in Dubai by five wickets.
