Finals of Quaid-i-Millat boxing event to be contested today

KARACHI: The two-day National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) Quaid-i-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan boxing tournament reached the final stage at Ustad Abdullah Baloch Boxing Stadium, Peoples Sports Complex, Lyari, on Wednesday.

The event is organised in 10 weight divisions – five in boys under-14 and as many in juniors under-16.

Semi-final bouts were held in nine of the 10 weights on the opening day as two boxers — Shahbaz and Fawad — have directly reached the 36 kg final due to less entries.

As many as 62 promising boxers of the city are competing in the event which is organised by Sindh Boxing Association.The finals will be held on Thursday.

Boys U-14 class:

Quarter-finals: 38 kg: Osama bt Zeeshan Azad 3-044 kg: Jalil bt Mustafa 2-1

Semi-finals:38 kg: Mohammad Yasir bt Ali Akbar 2-1; Osama bt Jamil 2-1

40 kg: Abu Huraira bt Ismail 3-0; Yasir Shah bt Mujahid 2-1

42 kg: Majid Ali bt Anis 3-0; Sher Ali bt Murtaza 2-1

44 kg: Naeem bt Mohammad Asad 3-0; Mohammad Faheem bt Tanzeel Baig 3-0

Juniors U-16 class:Quarter-final:50 kg: Fahad bt Sikander 3-0

Semi-finals:46 kg: Nadir Kachi bt Maaz 3-0; Shoaib bt Bilal 2-1

48 kg: Maimoon Ali bt Rizwan 2-1; Imtiaz bt Usman 2-1

50 kg: Daniyal Islam bt Hasnain 3-0; Wali bt Fahad 2-1

52 kg: Mohammad Tahir bt Saghir 3-0; Tabish bt Munir Kachi 2-1

54 kg: Ilyas bt Tahir Hussain 3-0; Naimatullah bt Ateeq 2-1.
