Pakistani youth wins first prize at One Young World Summit

Pakistani youth Khizr Imran secured the first prize at the Rwanga Social Startup Competition at the fifth One Young World Summit held in Dublin, said a report published on techjuice.pk.

Imran shared his vision to research and manufacture affordable energy solutions for low-income communities. He came up with the idea to exploit solar energy in Pakistan and provide solutions for people belonging to low-income communities.

Imran is of the view that solar water heating has immense potential and ‘greenhouse technology”, in contrast to evacuation tubes, is a more efficient and viable option which will rapidly spread across Pakistan.

Jaan Pakistan is the name of the organisation Khizr has co-founded with his friends to launch this initiative. It has thus far received USD 20,000 as prize money and aims to venture into prototype development by the end of 2014
