Anwar Ali to lead ‘A’ squad against New Zealanders

LAHORE: ODI pace bowler Anwar Ali will lead Pakistan ‘A’ squad in the three-day practice game against New Zealanders to be held in Sharjah from Nov 3 to 5.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the 15-member ‘A’ squad on Thursday.

The side includes four Test cricketers — wicket-keeper Adnan Akmal, pacers Bilawal Bhatti, Ehsan Adil and opener Shan Masood.

Besides Anwar, the ‘A’ squad also contains two other players having ODI experience — batsman Haris Sohail and left-arm spinner Raza Hasan.

Pakistan host New Zealand for a full series — three Tests, five ODIs and two T20 Internationals — during November-December in the UAE. The series begins with the first Test in Abu Dhabi on Nov 9.

‘A’ squad: Abid Ali, Adil Amin, Adnan Akmal, Anwar Ali (captain), Ataullah, Babar Azam, Bilawal Bhatti, Ehsan Adil, Haris Sohail, Junaid Ilyas, Karamat Ali, Raza Hasan, Saad Ali, Sami Aslam, Shan Masood.
