Sialkot abuzz with Iqbal week celebrations
SIALKOT: A large number of public schools’ students with their teachers participated in the “Allama Iqbal Rally” on Saturday.
Executive District Officer (EDO) Muhammad Saleem led the procession from the District Courts to Allama Iqbal Chowk. The participants with banners and placards carrying photos of Allama Iqbal, continued singing his poems in chorus.
The EDO said the procession was part of the ongoing celebrations of “Iqbal Week” being observed in famous orient poet’s native city. Every year, on November 9, the birth anniversary of Allama Iqbal is celebrated with zest in his birthplace town, Sialkot.
The Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) also organised the “Iqbal Conference” at the SCCI auditorium.
The district administration also organised the “All Pakistan Mehfil-i-Mushaira” on the lawns of the Anwar Club Auditorium, where Amjad Islam Amjad, Attaul Haq Qasmi and Anwar Masood recited their poetry.
Also, a cake-cutting ceremony will also be held at Iqbal Manzil, the birthplace of Iqbal, on Sunday.
