Move to make traffic rules part of school curriculum

ISLAMABAD: A compulsory subject containing information about traffic rules and road safety concepts will be included in the school curriculum, official said.

Inspector General of National Highways & Motorway Police Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema said in a statement that all provincial governments had given their consent to the suggestion.

The Motorway Police had sent a request to provinces for including in the school curriculum subjects about road safety and traffic rules.

All the provincial governments have accepted the suggestion. The Motorway police believe that children and youth awareness programmes about traffic laws and concept of road safety will be extremely beneficial and will have positive and long-lasting effects.

Mr Cheema said that the subject of road safety had been incorporated in school curriculum in all developed countries.
