GP fund cases in Larkana piling up
LARKANA: Government employees serving in various departments in Larkana district have been facing problems in getting the issues relating to their general provident fund resolved as the first additional district accounts officer (ADAO-I) supposed to deal with the relevant cases has not been available since Oct 14.
The ADAO-I, Suleman Mirani, was suspended on the date and he was made to relinquish the charge but no other officer has been given the charge as yet.
District Accounts Officer Shafi Mohammed Junejo said on Saturday that a request had already been made to the finance department to fill the vacancy or assign the additional charge to some other officer but without any response.
Cases of GP fund are piling up and the employees concerned were suffering as there is no one available in the office to look into their issues, according to him.
The matter had also been communicated to the provincial accountant general, sources in the district accounts office said.
Many of the applicants said their cases for withdrawal of the required amount from the GP fund to meet emergency needs had been approved but action on the applications had been pending for long.
The DAO said that five to six applications relating to GP fund were being filed every day but the employees urgently requiring money were being turned away since Oct 14.
