KHAIRPUR: Canal breach inundates farmland, houses
KHAIRPUR, Sept 9: The Khuhra Minor canal developed a 25-foot-wide breach near the Sakwahan village, Gambat taluka, here on Monday night.
Over half-a-dozen houses, two schools, two Imambargahs and crops standing over 50 acres were flooded.
The houses that came under water belonged to Iqbal, Qadir Bux, Moharram Ali, Ali Nawaz and others.
The villagers have demanded an inquiry into the incident.
KILLED: A man, Ihsan Ali, was killed and another, Pir Ali Shah, was injured when a jeep overturned and fell into the Mirwah Canal on Tuesday morning.
BOY DIES: A minor boy, Momin Ali, was killed and four others were injured when a tractor-trolley hit a motorcycle on the Babur link road, Kotdiji taluka, here on Tuesday evening.
The injured were identified as Ms Ghulam Fatima, Ms Mumtaz, Khair Mohammad, all Mumdani by caste, and Ghulam Haider.
