GUJRANWALA: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has made all arrangements for holding a public meeting at the Jinnah Stadium Sunday (today) with the cooperation of police and the district administration.

PTI chief Imran Khan will reach the city by a helicopter while the district administration and party’s local leadership are keeping secret the helipad location from where he will be taken to the stadium by a car through a separate gate.

The PTI leadership and the district administration have built separate stairs for Imran to reach the stage where bulletproof glasses have been erected to avoid any mishap.

District Coordination Officer Azmat Mahmood has set up a control room in his office to monitor the public meeting while City Police Officer Waqas Nazir has deployed around 2,200 policemen in and around the stadium for security. PTI sources said Imran would return to Islamabad by road.

A tension between activists of the PML-N and the PTI reached climax on Saturday when PTI workers started shouting ‘Go Nawaz Go’ slogans and removing banners and posters on GT Road. They also painted photos of Imran on almost all hoardings

Senior officers of the district administration and police held a meeting with the local leadership of both parties and asked them to avoid any clash.

Assistant Commissioner Attiqur Rehman wrote letters to office bearers and responsible persons of both parties to remain peaceful.

PML-N activists said the PTI chief was using unparliamentarily language in his public meetings against their leaders and was particularly targeting Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif which was not tolerable.

PTI leaders said Imran was exposing corruption of the rulers in public meetings which was his right.

SUICIDE: An addict committed suicide by shooting himself in Satellite Town here on Saturday.

Reports said Faisal of Ali Park demanded money from his family for buying drugs, and on refusal, he shot himself to death. Police handed over the body to his family after legal formalities.

LOOTED: A landlord was deprived of Rs3 million by robbers near Kangniwala Bypass on Saturday.

Reports said Suleman of Burki village withdrew money from a bank branch and was on his way when robbers stopped his car and snatched a bag containing cash from him and escaped.

Sabzi Mandi police are looking into the matter.
