Not so perfect 'Nimmi Nimmi' marks the return of Overload
Over the years, Overload has gathered a loyal fan base. Marking 11 years together as a group, the band released their first single in over a year, 'Nimmi Nimmi.'

Overload was formed in 2003 by producer, lead vocalist and drummer, Farhad Humayun and keyboard/synth player, songwriter and composer, Sheraz Siddiq. They were later joined by Hassan Mohyeddin on percussion along with infamous dhol players Pappu Sain and Jhura Sain.
Humayun directed the video for 'Nimmi Nimmi' himself. Focusing primarily on the video, Humayun has done a good job with the artistic and minimal approach he's taken. The mood is dark and the video is mostly monochrome with pops of colour here and there (such as his yellow Porsche sports car and his estranged lover's maroon pout).
In the video, we see that the lead vocalist is a man who lives lavishly and has all the materialistic pleasures one could ask for. However, he still feels sorrow over a past relationship and embodies a forlorn lover. We see the object of his affection in flashbacks doing mundane things like cooking and listening to music.
There are some exquisite technical shots (one of two eagles soaring in the sky and some that very well utilise the smoke coming from a cigarette) and it definitely doesn't feel like your average Pakistani video. In some angles, Humayun even resembles Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman!
Overload has put a lot of thought into this video. Symbolism can be spotted if you look hard enough. At one point, Humayun and his ex-lover are tugging at opposite ends of a cloth indicating a power struggle. Could that be the reason for their resentment? The video leaves you in wonderment.
That being said, it's not perfect. It's a little repetitive and Humayun's lip-syncing could have been better. The song is somewhat catchy but nothing you'd listen to over and over again. However, it does have touching lyrics and funky bass vibes and the groovy beats that constitute Overload's signature style.
Over the course of their career, Overload has received critical acclaim as well as numerous awards such as 'Best Live Act Award' at the Lux Style Awards 2006 and more recently, 'Best Band' at Hum TV Awards 2014.
With the release of 'Nimmi Nimmi', Overload has made its presence known once again and we are sure this is not the last we've seen of them!
