Indian fire panics civilians

SIALKOT: The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday resorted to unprovoked heavy firing on villages in Charwah and Harpal sectors along the working boundary.

According to senior officials of the Chenab Rangers, the Indian BSF targeted the civilian population and also fired mortar shells, damaging several houses in the villages.

Some of the shells fired by BSF landed in the fields and could not explode.

Indians started the shelling at 8:30am that continued for about 20 minutes, causing panic among the local population.

The Chenab Rangers retaliated, making the Indian guns silent.

No loss of life or injury was reported, the officials said.
