Spate of protests ensues imbroglio in Faisalabad

LAHORE: A spate of protests ensued killing of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf workers in Faisalabad on Monday as highly charged PTI activists blocked various roads that choked traffic in different parts of the city.

The PTI has also announced country-wide mourning on Tuesday (today).

The party men and supporters condemned the killing of party workers by the PML-N ‘Gullu Butts’ and expressed their deep condolences to the bereaved families.

PTI Punjab President Ejaz Chaudhry and General Secretary Dr Yasmin Rashid say the government is pushing the country towards anarchy by resorting to ‘terrorism.’

They say the party workers’ blood would not go waste.

In Lahore, the PTI workers and supporters staged a major protest demonstration on The Mall at Lahore High Court Chowk and observed a sit-in.

The workers also staged protests and blocked roads at Shahdara, Samanabad Mor, Jallo Mor, Saddar Bazaar, Lalik Chowk and other parts of the city.

The protesters frantically chanted “Go Nawaz Go” slogans.

The traffic on various main roads as well as adjacent arteries remained out of gear for hours.


PTI men block major roads throughout the province


PTI leaders Hamid Zaman and Shabbir Sial demanded that those involved in the killing of Tehreek-i-Insaf workers be arrested.

They warned the closure of all cities in the province and said that the responsibility would lie with former law minister Rana Sanaullah.

Condemning killing of party workers, Mr Zaman said it seemed that there was no constitution, law and democracy in the country.

He said the government, formed on the basis of rigging, could no longer commit extremism against innocent masses.

He also said the PTI workers were not coward and could pay the government back in the same coin.

PTI Punjab President Ejaz Chaudhry said the PML-N was operating with a criminal mindset and had planned to create another tragedy like that of Model Town, Lahore.

Owning to stepping up of protests in the city, people also expressed apprehensions about the opening of schools as many students are also appearing for their mid-term tests.

EDO Education Lahore Pervaiz Akhtar said the schools would remain open on Tuesday (today).

SARGODHA: Tehreek-i-Insaf workers blocked University and Khushab roads to protest the Faisalabad violence.

Police were deployed around the residences of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz parliamentarians and all link roads leading towards their residences were sealed.

GUJRANWALA: Led by district president Rana Naeemur Rehman, PTI workers blocked Lohianwala bypass by burning tyres in protest against Faisalabad incident on Monday night.

The protest procession started from the outhouse of Rehman on Sui Gas Road and terminated at Lohianwala by pass intersection.

SIALKOT: Workers staged a sit-in at Allama Iqbal Chowk.

Party’s deputy secretary-general Umer Dar led the demo.

It caused traffic blockade on various city roads.

BAHAWALPUR: Party activists from Bahawalpur and Lodhran reached the toll plaza on river Sutel near Cham Kuliar Mor and blocked traffic on the national highway.
