1,000 phone lines go dead in Sukkur

SUKKUR, Sept 11: At least 1,000 telephone lines of the Site exchange went dead as some people cut underground cables at three different places on Wednesday.

Southern Telecommunications Region-V general-manager said this was the fifth time that telephones cables had been cut.

He said a case had been lodged against the unidentified accused but the police had made no progress.

Meanwhile, the repair work of the cables has been started.

TRADERS’ PROTEST: Small traders will observe a token hunger strike on Sept 15 against the universal income tax scheme, said a press release issued by the All Pakistan Organization of Small Traders and Cottage Industries on Thursday.
