Advice: How to increase your IQ

TO increase you intelligent quotient (IQ) you need to polish your hidden mental abilities — your brainpower. Some people are naturally gifted with a higher IQ while some have to practise to enhance their IQ. Here are some tips to increase your intelligent quotient:

Watch TV, surf the net

WATCHING TV and surfing the net is not always bad, it depends on how you use these facilities. In order to increase your IQ, you should watch informative programmes on TV and explore some educational websites.

Scientific and historical TV programmes and websites are just one example which will take you to a world of new discoveries and historical records.

The internet is flooded with websites about every subject — from literature to mathematics, science to fine arts, and much more — it’s up to you to explore as much as you want.

Making a habit of regularly watching informative TV programmes and surfing educational websites will definitely sharpen your intellectual skills.

Discussion

OUR elders know a lot about everything. They are experienced and can help you gain in-depth knowledge about various subjects. After coming back from school, make it a habit to spend some time with your parents, uncles or whoever is available. Discuss with them whatever you studied in classroom or try to gain their insights about current affairs.

Your friends too are a wonderful source for enhancing your IQ. You spend around six hours with them in school. During free time, try to indulge in educational activities or intellectual discussions with your classmates.

Play brain games

DURING weekends try to play some brain games that might include puzzles and strategic games. These games are not only a source of entertainment; they are a good exercise for your brain as well. Playing these brainstorming games will polish your learning and problem-solving skills.

Be innovative

EVERYONE gets bored of doing same tasks again and again. The key is to do the same old tasks in a new way. This is called innovative thinking when you explore new ways to perform routine jobs.

For example, changing your room setup or trying to present your school’s assignments in a different way, learning something creative from a magazine or a website and then practising it at home. This habit not only helps you become innovative, it also increases your intelligent quotient.

Explore your culture

INSTEAD of taking your society and cultural norms for granted, try to explore the various aspects of them. People, traditions, festivals and their historical background will give you many insights about this world.
