SA back De Kock to recover

CAPE TOWN: South Africa have backed wicket-keeper/batsman Quinton de Kock to recover from injury in time for the World Cup next month.

De Kock was included in the Proteas’ final squad on Wednesday although he will still miss the upcoming One-day International and Twenty20 series against the West Indies because of a ligament tear in his left ankle.

Cricket South Africa said the squad was otherwise at full strength for the World Cup, led by captain A.B. de Villiers, vice-captain Hashim Amla, and fast bowling spearhead Dale Steyn.

J.P. Duminy is named after being treated for a chronic knee injury.

Squad: A.B. de Villiers (captain), Hashim Amla (vice-captain), Kyle Abbott, Farhaan Behardien, Quinton de Kock, J.P. Duminy, Faf du Plessis, Imran Tahir, David Miller, Morne Morkel, Wayne Parnell, Aaron Phangiso, Vernon Philander, Rilee Rossouw, Dale Steyn.
