Whatsapp now offers web messaging option

Instant messaging app WhatsApp announced Wednesday that it has introduced a web messaging feature, said a report published on Mashable.

The web version so far is only limited to Google Chrome users, and is yet to work with iOS devices due to "Apple platform limitations."

In order to use this feature, Google Chrome users have to use this browser extension and scan the QR code that appears to link a device with the web client.

Another limitation of this web chat feature is that it only works while the device is connected to the internet. On the other hand, keeping in mind other texting limitations, having WhatsApp on the desktop might prove to be useful.

Last year, social-networking website Facebook acquired WhatsApp for $22 billion.

Recently the app also topped 700 million monthly users. The number has risen up from around 450 million users when Facebook first announced plans to acquire the company in February last year.
