Black warrants sought for two death-row prisoners

KARACHI: Jail authorities asked an anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Saturday to issue black warrants for two condemned prisoners.

Mohammad Faisal and Mohammad Afzal were sentenced to death by an ATC in 1999 for killing a man during a robbery in Korangi in 1998.

In an application, the jail authorities informed the ATC-IV that appeals of the two had been dismissed by the higher and superior courts and their mercy petitions had also been turned down by the president of Pakistan a couple days ago.

They urged the court to issue black warrants for execution of the convicts. The court is likely to issue death warrants on Monday.
