Mianwali missing five key officials
MIANWALI: The district is being run without five key officials, resulting in problems for the people whose matters are lying pending in the relevant offices for several months.
To begin with, the most important post of the district coordination officer (DCO) has been vacant for about a month. The appointment is usually made by none other than the chief minister.
Similarly, two posts of assistant Commissioner (AC) -- one at Piplan tehsil and the other at Miannwali -- are lying vacant for one month.
The post of district officer coordination (DOC) is also vacant for last six months, beside that of Finance EDO.
The health department is also no exception as the slot of EDO is lying vacant for last six months.
Sources say that officers feel reluctant to get posted in the district because of interference in their work by local politicians.
The ruling PML-N has little influence in the district where Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf swept the last election.
Worker killed
Extortionists shot dead a dairy farm worker and injured another on refusal of the farm owner to pay extortion money on Sunday evening.
According to police, Naseemullah and Ehsanullah, both residents of Daudkhel, demanded Rs1 million from Sajid Abbas, the owner of a dairy farm. The owner, however, refused to accept the demand.
On Sunday evening, both suspects arrived at the dairy farm and opened indiscriminate fire, killing a farm worker, Muhammad Safdar, on the spot and seriously injuring Ashraf, another worker. The farm owner escaped unhurt in the attack, while the extortionists fled the scene.
