Balochistan opposition parties resent ‘horse-trading’
QUETTA: Leaders of opposition parties in Balochistan assembly have stressed the need for evolving a joint strategy to prevent alleged ‘horse-trading’ in the upcoming Senate elections as it is ‘defaming’ the democratic system.
They were speaking at a joint press conference after a meeting of the opposition parties which was also attended by Balochistan National Party-Mengal chief Akhtar Mengal and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F Secretary General Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri.
The participants included Leader of Opposition in the Balochistan assembly Maulana Abdul Wasay, Zamaruk Piralizai of the Awami National Party, Syed Ehsan Shah of the BNP-Awami and independent MPA Mir Tariq Hussain Magsi.
Sources said the meeting discussed the Senate elections, particularly the issue of ‘horse-trading’, and the leaders of the four opposition parties expressed anger over media reports about the “sale and purchase” of votes for the polls.
