Mamnoon in Baku on four-day visit

BAKU: President Mamnoon Hussain arrived in Azerbaijan’s capital on Wednesday on a four-day official visit. The president was received by Azerbaijan’s First Deputy Prime Minister Yaqub Abdulla Oglu Eyyubov on his arrival at the Baku International Airport. Pakis­tan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Khalid Usman Qaiser and senior officials of the Pakistan Embassy were present on the occasion.

President Hussain is visiting Azerbaijan on the invitation of his Azerbaijani counterpart. The two presidents will inaugurate the Pakistan-Azerbaijan Business Forum, which is aimed at exploring ways to further expand business relations between the two countries.—APP

Our Staff Reporter adds from Islamabad: During a meeting between delegations of the two countries, President Hussain invited the Azerbaijani president to visit Pakistan.

After the meeting, a joint declaration was issued which said that strategic partnership between the two countries had been revived.

The two sides agreed to further cement their ties in fields of security, trade, investment, transport, tourism, education and science and technology.

The two countries also decided to cooperate for human rights and ensure contacts of civil societies of the two countries.

They stressed the need for resolution of the issues of Kashmir and Nagorno-Karabakh.

The joint declaration also condemned money laundering and any crime against historical and cultural heritage.

The declaration said that both sides would extend their cooperation in the field of oil and gas and find out ways to increase cooperation between relevant companies of the two countries.
