Jamali has not lost hope on LFO talks

ISLAMABAD, Sept 24: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali said on Wednesday there was no room for despondency and despair as regards to reaction shown by the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal leadership to government’s proposed package of constitutional reforms.

“We will study and consider MMA’s response and hope that the two sides would be able to arrive at some amicable resolution,” he observed.

The prime minister made these observations after meeting prominent MMA leaders, including Maulana Shah Ahmad Noorani, Hafiz Hussain Ahmad and Liaquat Baloch, who met him at the Prime Minister’s House to present their written comments and observations on the constitutional package unfolded by the government last week.

Mr Jamali said it was a good omen that the process of dialogue between the government and the opposition was continuing.

Though it would be too early to comment on MMA’s reply and proposals as PML believed in politics of consensus and accommodation, he added, it was hoped that some way out would be found.—APP
