Ex-leader of Swabi PTI held in murder case

SWABI: Former district general secretary of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and candidate from PK-31, Swabi-1, Shah Wali was nominated in a murder of a woman along with her brother here on Wednesday.

Mr Wali remained the PTI office-bearer, but before 2013 general elections he developed differences with the party leadership over the award of ticket and contested the election as an independent candidate.

Registering an FIR in Chota Lahor police station, Fayaz Ali, son of the deceased woman Shaheen Begum, said that his mother was killed on Wednesday allegedly by his maternal uncle Abdur Rehman, and Shah Wali when she was returning from Sheikh Dheri village to her home in Chota Lahor city.

He alleged that the two opened fire on his mother near Sheikh Dheri bus stop, killing her on the spot. The cause of the killing was stated to be a dispute over a piece of land between Mr Rehman and his sister.

Later, police arrested Mr Wali, but he told media that he was business partner of Mr Rehman due to which he was nominated in the FIR. “I was sitting in my hujra when police came and arrested me. When I asked them about the reason they said that your name is mentioned in an FIR,” he said. He denied that he was involved in the case.

TWO KILLED: Two people were killed in the district on Wednesday. Police said that one Bakhtiar Ali and some people of the area had exchanged hot words in Kalu Khan village a few days ago and they opened fire on him. As a result, he was killed on the spot.

Registering an FIR, wife of Mr Ali told police that her husband was killed allegedly by Sani Gul, Anwar Gul and Akhtar Gul when he was returning from fields. Another person, Noman Ali, was shot dead near his residence in Kalu Khan village, allegedly by Ayeen Khan. Registering an FIR with the city police station, brother of the deceased said that the cause of the incident was exchange of hot words. Police have registered FIRs in both the cases.
