Ayyan's remand extended, allergy medicine promised
RAWALPINDI: A district and sessions court here on Friday extended the judicial remand of supermodel Ayyan, who is being held at Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail in a money-laundering case.
Ayyan was presented in front of district and sessions court judge Bahadur Ali amid strict security upon culmination of her 14-day remand.

In the previous hearing, customs officials were directed to submit a challan in Ayyan's case, however, the challan was not presented today.
Ayyan's counsel Sardar Ishaq asserted in an application today that the customs investigations team is bound to produce the challan within 14 days however, it has not been presented despite the passing of 28 days.
The client is being harassed on purpose, the lawyer maintained.

The court subsequently gave the investigation team an hour's time to produced the challan, and extended Ayyan's remand till April 27.
During the hearing, when the judge asked Ayyan about the facilities available to her at Adiala Jail, a visibly upset Ayyan responded that she has contracted seasonal allergies but treatment and medicines are not available to treat her at the jail.
The court ordered the jail administration to ensure better provision of medicines and treatment to Ayyan.

Ayyan Ali was arrested by customs officials on March 14 from Benazir Bhutto International Airport Islamabad after $508,000 were recovered from her possession.
She was arrested for violation of Section 2(s) of the Customs Act 1969 which is a ‘predicate offence’ under the Anti-Money Laundering Act (AMLA) 2010.
A special customs court had rejected her bail plea on March 16 and sent her on 14 days judicial remand.
