Asif wins, Shehram loses at Asian Snooker
KARACHI: Two-time former national champion Mohammad Asif conjured up his second victory in three matches when he blanked Iraq’s Ali in the ongoing 31st Asian Snooker Championship at Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.
Asif gave no room to his opponent while emerging 88-21, 59-12, 78-27, 64-1 victorious in the group “F”.
However, Asif’s compatriot and Pakistan No 2 Shahram Changezi, who had the honour of compiling two century breaks of 102 and 121 in the opener against Japan’s Shuji Hase, suffered 3-4 loss against Iran’s Heydarinezhad Ehsan after enjoying 3-1 lead.
The bespectacled Pakistani gave a tough time to Iranian opponent surging 2-0 and 3-1 in the best of seven frames battle. He delighted while compiling three breaks of 79, 70 and 80 in the first, second and fourth frames that he won but to no avail. Needing just a frame to complete the rout, he lost the following three to taste first defeat in two outings.
The Iranian won the duel 17-99, 26-70, 78-64, 17-101, 69-4, 73-14, 115-0.
