Two Hazara men killed at bus stand

QUETTA: Two Hazara men were killed and another was injured in a gun attack on the booking office of a bus-coach service in Satellite Town area here on Monday.

Four other people from the same community saved themselves by running away from the scene.

“The victims and four other persons wanted to go to Taftan without security arrangements,” a police officer said.

According to sources, seven people of the Hazara community went to a private coach company’s office and were about to purchase tickets when four men on motorcycles opened fire on them.

Mirza Hussain and Asadullah were killed and Mohammad Tahir was critically injured.

Police and Frontier Corps personnel took the bodies and the injured to hospital.

“The two persons who died had suffered multiple bullet injuries,” police said, adding that the injured was taken to the Combined Military Hospital.

“They wanted to go to Taftan without informing the police,” city police chief Razaq Cheema said, adding that the staff at the bus stand had informed them that they could not travel without security.

He said law-enforcement agencies were providing security to people of Hazara community from Hazara Town to the vegetable market and Quetta to Taftan under a government decision.

“Four men on two motorcycles attacked them with automatic weapons,” Mr Cheema said, adding that the victims and those accompanying them were residents of Hazara Town.

Those who escaped the attack returned home under heavy security.

Police and personnel of other security agencies raided several places to trace the attackers.
