FC kills eight militants during Mastung, Kalat operations

QUETTA: Security forces killed eight suspected militants and apprehended several others during a search operation in the Splinji and Johan areas of Balochistan's Mastung and Kalat districts on Thursday.

Frontier Corps (FC) spokesman Khan Wasey told DawnNews that three personnel were injured during an exchange of fire with miscreants.

Wasey said security forces, who were aided by helicopters, demolished three camps and destroyed an explosive-laden vehicle during the operation.

"More than 400 FC personnel are participating in the search operation," he added.

The spokesman said the miscreants were involved in attacks on an oil tanker carrying fuel for the Saindak Project, as well as other acts of terrorism.

However, forces' claims could not be verified by independent sources.

In March, FC personnel had killed five militants and injured six suspected of involvement in attacks on security forces torching five oil tankers carrying fuel for the Saindak Project.

Mastung is considered a sensitive district, where security forces have been on the target of militants for over a decade.
