Website review: EarthAlbum
AS summer vacation has started, why don’t you also embark on a long journey to have fun around the world? You can easily do it while sitting comfortably in your armchair by exploring amazing photos from around the globe.
Here is EarthAlbum, a website which is a flickr mash up that allows you to explore the coolest photos of the world (courtesy Google maps and flickr) just by clicking anywhere on the map, the images change every few weeks so you can come back for a greater experience.
Simply click on where you want to go and you will be transported to a new world; the name of the area you click appears, then the thumbnails of photos from that particular area, you can click and see the larger view. The website is not detailed and has just pictures related to the area. It would have been much better if a brief intro was given about the places the visitors click.
Apart from that, I think the creators should have used some filters to the pictures as sometimes the photos that appear don’t have anything to do with the place you are at, but since it is a flickr mashup we are left with no choice but to see them. However, except for these minor issues, the website gives you a great experience.
So kids, explore the globe by looking at amazing photos from every place you ‘visit’.
