RAWALPINDI: Steps against corruption lauded

RAWALPINDI, Dec 23: The office-bearers of United Bank Limited (UBL) Employees Union have expressed their support for the President Gen Pervez Musharraf and finance minister Shaukat Aziz’s intended programmes for eliminating corruption in the banking sector.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, UBL employees assured the authorities of their full cooperation in efforts to eliminate the corruption mafia at the UBL.

The bank workers also appealed to the government to do away with the oppressive laws, like 27-B and 2-A, which, they said, were imposed by the previous government on bank workers.

They expressed their gratitude for former labour minister Omar Asghar Khan’s selfless services for their cause.
